Weekend Getaways South Australia - Short Getaways
"Find weekend Getaways South Australia right here!"
If you fancy getting out of the city for a weekend away in South Australia then this is the place to look. You'll find plenty of ideas for awesome short getaways in South Australia.
I'm basing my advice on weekends away from Adelaide - i.e. they are in driving distance from Adelaide and by that I mean 3 hours and under.
From wineries to wildlife, I hope you'll find something exciting in here....
Weekend Getaways SA - Kangaroo Island
Probably one of my favourite weekend getaways South Australia.
If you want to feel totally away from the hustle and bustle of the city and you love your wildlife then this really is THE best place to come.
You can fly here from Adelaide Airport or take a leisurely drive down to Cape Jervis and catch the ferry over (1 hour 40 mins from Adelaide)
What I love about this place is that you get to see all the animals in their natural environment. The beaches and bays are amazing and driving on unsealed red roads is a treat.

Weekend Getaways South Australia - Wine
How lucky are you to have 3 great wine regions within an easy drive of Adelaide.
The Adelaide Wine Regions are a real treat and there are plenty of different wines in this area to keep everyone happy.
The favourite has to be the Barossa Valley. Here you will find big red wines and delightful accommodation.
You'll find more details on my pages above but also check out Adelaide Wine Region activities for more ideas.
Weekend Getaways South Australia - Fleurieu Peninsula
This is a delightful area which is mainly good for a beach weekend away mixed with some wine pleasures, as this area is very close to the mclaren vale wine region too.
It's about 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Adelaide and you can enjoy a host of activities including water sports like surfing, whale watching and relaxing on the many beaches.
Another great thing to do here is the Coast to Vines Rail Trail. This is a wonderful bike ride along the old train line so it is fairly flat and easy. The trail is from Marino to Willunga and is a wonderful way to see the scenery, enjoy the wineries and produce stores. There are more details on my Adelaide Wine Regions page.
But if arts your thing then there is even an art tour you can do - This area has a high concentration of art galleries to explore where you can admire local artists. There's a variety of trails to choose from depending on your taste and time you have available. You can get a driving map with all the details from the visitors information centre on Main Road, Mclaren Vale.

3 Divas Luxury Accommodation - B&B, great hosts, close to some nice eateries and hosts also do wine tours.

Hahndorf for Weekend Getaways South Australia
Hahndorf is a pretty German town just 30 minutes from Adelaide and is a great little spot for a weekend out of the city.
Many of the German traditions are still alive and well in Hahndorf and there are lovely boutique style shops, cafes and restaurants, many of which serve traditional German fodder.
There are cute cottages, tree lined streets and craft shops here to ensure a relaxing weekend away. It is also a great base from which to explore the Adelaide Wine Regions and the Adelaide Hills Region.
I personally love this area. It's suitably rural but with great food, restaurants and coffee houses dotted about. Visit art galleries (Hans Heysen's House in Hahndorf itself is well worth a guided tour) or take the Oakbank Heritage Walk that takes you on a scenic walk passed lovely old buildings. If you'd rather stay in the car then you can do the Onkaparinga River Scenic Drive that guides you passed all the vienyards and lovely villages.
