Sydney Airport Transfer
Plane at Sunset - Getting To And From Sydney Airport
We need a Sydney Airport Transfer to get us from Sydney Airport to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay.
We are taking a cruise and would like to know what is the most economical way to get from the airport to the cruise ship docked at Circular Quay. We will be travelling in Dec/12.
There are several ways to get to Cirucular Quay for your Sydney Airport Transfer. It really depends on how much luggage you have as to how easy some of these options will be.
Taxis in Sydney are not that expensive. They are usually lined up outside as soon as you leave the airport and they will put all your luggage in the car for you. They will probably use the Eastern Distributor to reach Circular Quay which adds an extra $5 to the cost of the trip but all up, you are probably looking at around $40 - $45 max. This is definitely the quickest and easiest option.
There is a train station at the Airport and the service is pretty regular and takes you into the centre of Sydney. There are plenty of trains but you would need the Airport & East Hills Line: Macarthur to City Circle. This train takes you to Circular Quay. All other trains take you to Central Station where you would have to change for Circular Quay. Central is a large station so you may find yourself lugging heavy bags around to another platform.
From Circular Quay you have another 5 minute walk round to the Overseas Passenger Terminal where the cruise ships depart from.
Cost for a train ticket is $12 per person or $19 return per person.
There is no direct bus service between Circular Quay and the airport. The 400 bus goes to Bondi Junction where you could change buses to the 380 to get you to Circular Quay. The total cost for this journey would be around $7.50 per person but could be hard work with lots of luggage. Again, you'd have to walk the extra 5 minutes to the cruise area.
Another option is to pre-book a door to door shuttle bus. www.airportconnect.com.au offers this service for about $13 per person but this price is only available if you agree to book a return journey with them. The journey can take about an hour as you will have to drop off everyone else on the bus too. You may be one of the last stops. You also have to pre book and then reconfirm 24 hours prior by ringing a Sydney number which is not always convenient.
So, if you can, I'd pay the extra and get a taxi. It's quick and hassle free with a warden at the airport to direct you and make sure you get to where you need to go.
I hope this helps regarding your Sydney Airport Transfer
