Smiths Beach

"Smiths Beach - a great beach to laze after a boozy lunch at one of the Margaret River Wineries!"

The whole Margaret River area is simply stunning. It has to be one of my favourite places to visit in Western Australia due to its combination of GREAT beaches AND awesome wineries.

This beach is also one of my favourites as it has everything - great swimming, surfing, rocks and clear waters.

Getting To The Beach

The coast between Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste spans an impressive 110km of awesome beaches.

You'll find this beach just outside the main town of Yallingup which is in the heart of the Margaret River, about 3.5 hours south of Perth.

You'll find the beach off Caves Road and there is a rather steep road down to the beach.

Why Visit This Beach?

This beach has everything. If you love surfing then head to the centre of the beach.

If you are looking for more sheltered swimming then go to the southern corner where you'll find a small lagoon.

Fishing is great here too - near the Point is best as the waves break here

Snorkelling around the rocks is also great - the waters are so clear and you can really see lots of fish

Amenities here are pretty limited - a shop and a restaurant and there is Smiths Beach Resort if you wanted to stay somewhere which also has a nice bar. It gets good reviews -how could it not given its overlooking such a great beach. But that said, you pay for the views. They are self catering apartments and are a member of small luxury hotels.

Overall a beach and a good place to head to after a lazy lunch at one of the wineries.
