If you are looking for accommodation in Port Douglas and fancy something a bit chic, hip and dare I say, designer, then I recommend staying at
The QT hotel opened its doors mid 2012 and has been doing some great introductory offers to tempt people to try this new resort. We stayed for 2 nights and got 2 free cocktails, breakfast included and dinner at their infamous "bazaar" restaurant.
We stayed in a 2 bed garden
view apartment and it felt light and spacious/ The beds were large and really
comfy. I loved the funky decor and lighting. The bathrooms were adequate and the kitchenette came with a microwave,
hob and fridge. It's clearly not designed to be making 4 course dinners in, but it was perfect for preparing snacks and drinks.
But quite honestly, why would you eat in when the Bazaar buffet is quite frankly amazing. It is so good that the locals are flocking here to eat dinner and even breakfast.
Dinner is $65 per head and it's worth every cent! There were fresh salads and a huge array of seafood and cold meats for entree.
We had a choice of at least 4 main dishes which were all amazing as well as stone baked pizzas. Every night the chefs cook up something special - our dinner experience included a tasting plate that included scallops, soft shell crab and stuffed mushrooms - I'm really not doing it justice but it was very special.
You really can keep on going up for more too but remember to leave room for the deserts and of course the huge array of cheese.
I haven't experience anything as good as this in Australia, when it comes to buffets. But I haven't yet been to their sister hotel in the Gold Coast -QT Hotel Gold Coast
Breakfast was just as impressive and I loved that I could make a
request to the chef for my own omelette or eggs just as I liked. They
even made my little girl pancakes.
After dinner you can hit the bar. We enjoyed some sumptuous cocktails listening to some funky music.
The place was buzzing with an eclectic mix of people. There were plenty of couples and a few sophisticated groups of girls, clearly on a girly weekend away.
There were a few families here too and there is a shallow pool that is suitable for children. But the vibe is definitely younger and more suitable for couples. The main pool has a bar that you can swim up to and plays a cool selection of tunes throughout the day - it's not loud or offensive but certainly helps create that younger vibe.
We enjoyed doing a few laps in the larger swimming pool that is a very short walk from the main complex. My husband said the gym was good too.
All in all, I would recommend this place for couples most of all and anyone planning a trip away with the boys or girls.
Even if you don't choose to stay here, you MUST come for dinner at the Bazzar. Book in advance though or you just won't get in.
