Map Tasmania

"Use this map of Tasmania to plan your trip!"

This Map Tasmania is here to help you find your way around this island. It will take you approx 2 hours to get from Hobart to Launceston, but that's a good straight road.

Some of the other journeys will take you much longer due to the windy nature of the roads. So allow plenty of time to get between key points of interest. To be honest, the views are usually totally stunning so the journeys themselves are interesting and not a chore!

It really is one of my favourite places to visit - the scenery is stunning, the food is great and it feels very far removed from the bright lights of Sydney and Melbourne.

Key Points of Interest on the Map Tasmania

My page on Tasmania Tourism gives you the best view on where to go and what to do in Tasmania

But now you have a map of Tasmania in front of you, I'd recommend flying into either Hobart or Launceston and doing as much of the island as possible.

The East cost is generally the most popular and you could easily spend a week focusing on the following: (review the Tasmania Map to see)

Hobart Australia - a great city with the Salamanca Markets and lovely port

Port Arthur to understand colonial Tasmania and maybe see some ghosts

Wine Glass Bay and Freycinet National Park

The Bay of Fires for their stunning beaches

Launceston and nearby Tamar Valley Wine Region for sparkling wine and pinot noir

Cradle Mountain Tasmania located more in the centre of Tasmania is also a must see. Great if you are a keen walker or just fancy a small stroll round Dove Lake admiring the mountain in the background.

The West side is still interesting and is a bit more rugged.

King Island Australia and Maria Island Tasmania both just off the coast of Tasmania are also very popular. These provide great day trips to unspoiled nature and dairy farms.
