Cable Beach Broome

"Cable Beach Broome - beautiful day or night"

More famous these days for the resorts that sit along the beach, this is still a great beach. There's not many beaches in the world where you get to drive your car along 22km of sand - a great experience if you've never done it.

If you want to know more about the resorts then check out my Broome-Australia page.

Read on to find out more about the beautiful sunsets, camel rides and the stair case to the moon.

Where is Cable Beach?

Broome is on the western coast of Australia and direct flights operate from most cities.

Come during the dry months between May and October and avoid outside of these months.

The Northern end of the beach is where you can do your 4WD. It also has some nice rockpools

Why Visit Cable Beach?

The beach itself is beautiful and if you go at the right time of the year, you can witness the staircase to the moon display where an illusion makes it appear that there are steps leading down from the moon. You'll only see this at the Town Beach end as it's the mud slats that give the illusion of the staircase.

You can also take a camel ride along the beach at sunset. It is particularly stunning at night watching the sunset. Try Broome Camel Safaris. Cost is approx $55.

Head to the end near Gantheaume Point and you'll find great rocks and dinosaur footprints. There's a nice rockpool too here.

This beach is for you if you fancy combining a beach style holiday with the outback. Broome Australia is a great starting point for exploring the Kimberleys, a real outback experience.

You are also pretty much guaranteed to find a spot on the beach just for you. You may have to drive a few km from the main resorts but do it! Then you'll find uninterrupted views, peace and tranquillity.

There used to be a nudist section of the beach but the local council are about to vote for this to be banned!
